Qu\u2019est-ce qui relie Erich von Stroheim<\/strong><\/span>, cet \u00ab aristocrate \u00bb viennois dont les films imp\u00e9riaux et les mensonges r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9s r\u00e9ussirent \u00e0 occulter le couple de chapelier juif qui l\u2019avait \u00e9lev\u00e9, \u00e0 Benjamin Wilkomirski<\/strong><\/span>, ce rescap\u00e9 qui publia des souvenirs sur les camps o\u00f9 il avait grandi, et qui retrouva gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 eux son p\u00e8re \u00e0 J\u00e9rusalem, avant d\u2019\u00eatre suspect\u00e9 d\u2019affabulation ? Arnaud du Thil<\/strong><\/span>, cet aventurier qui prit l\u2019identit\u00e9 d\u2019un jeune p\u00e8re de famille enfui, se fit accepter par sa femme et son fils et v\u00e9cut des ann\u00e9es avec eux, sous le nom de Martin Guerre<\/strong><\/span> – et Jean-Claude Romand<\/strong><\/span>, qui se fit passer pendant un quart de si\u00e8cle pour un chercheur mondialement reconnu, avant de finir par tuer ses parents, sa femme et ses enfants, \u00e0 la veille d\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9couvert ? Le besoin d\u2019\u00eatre autre que soi. Le d\u00e9sir de se forger une autre identit\u00e9<\/strong> que celle esquiss\u00e9e par la famille et le milieu, et ent\u00e9rin\u00e9e par faiblesse, dans un premier temps. La n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de se recr\u00e9er, du moins de passer pour ce que l\u2019on souhaite profond\u00e9ment \u00eatre. L\u2019envie de mener plusieurs vies, parall\u00e8les ou successives.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h6>\n
Tous ces cas nous rappellent que chacun dispose \u00e0 l\u2019origine de moyens pour orienter ou manipuler sa propre humanit\u00e9<\/strong>. L\u2019identit\u00e9 n\u2019est pas qu\u2019un legs, en effet ; elle est aussi le petit r\u00e9cit que chacun \u00e9labore, au sortir de l\u2019enfance, afin d\u2019acqu\u00e9rir une autonomie et donc une r\u00e9alit\u00e9. C\u2019est la fa\u00e7on qu\u2019on a de se raconter \u00e0 soi<\/strong> mais aussi \u00e0 autrui, puis \u00e0 soi tel que l\u2019imagine ou le redoute autrui \u2013 soit d\u00e9j\u00e0 deux r\u00e9cits \u00e0 la puissance n, eux-m\u00eames sujets \u00e0 de modulations, mais aussi indispensables \u00e0 notre survie que l\u2019eau ou le pain. C\u2019est l\u2019art, coh\u00e9rent, brouillon ou inventif, que chacun d\u00e9ploie pour justifier ou freiner les oscillations de cet amas g\u00e9latineux qu\u2019est le moi<\/strong><\/span>.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h6>\n
